Ode to English Winters

Ode to an English Winter

Winter lurks,
It's icy hand stretching like ghosts of the past,
Arctic breath whistling in the night.
Soon, the skies will cloud over
Chasing away the sun's light and warmth

Then it will be snow,
bells ringing on the mall,
Christmas lights twinkling in the darkness...
The only good thing of English winters
is the redemption Christmastide brings.
Making the winters, at least, bearable.

  1. The thought of Christmas is the only thing that keeps an African soul warm in winter.
